To make sure my practices and knowledge are up to date, I participate in ongoing training in current practices, such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and couples work using both Gottman and Johnson’s methods.
Before we meet, we will do a brief telephone consultation to make sure that our work together can be a success. The importance of fit between therapist and client is critical, so we will briefly discuss your reason for seeking therapy so. I don’t take on clients I don’t think I can help. During our first meeting and throughout our work, we will discuss your goals for therapy and check in throughout the process to make sure you are getting what you need from our work.
I love my work, and I want to continue to love it, so I limit the number of hours I work per week. I endeavor to walk the walk so I actively participate in my own life. I balance the need spend time with my family with the need to make sure my work is engaging and fulfilling.
